For the Hawke’s Bay Business Hub

This guide has been prepared to provide all hirers and any other person undertaking work on behalf of the hirer, relevant safety information whilst working on site.  The Hawke’s Bay Business Hub is committed to providing a safe environment for hirers and guests.  To achieve this, Hawke’s Bay Business Hub will take every reasonable practicable step to prevent accidents and injuries by eliminating or identifying and controlling potential hazards.

The Hawke’s Bay Business Hub Health and Safety policy forms the backbone of our intent and clearly outlines our commitment to safety. A copy of the Hawke’s Bay Business Hub Health and Safety policy is available upon request.

Hawke’s Bay Business Hub recognise its “Duty of Care” responsibility to all parties using its venue and is committed to delivering the highest possible standards of safety and service. The success of our health and safety program ultimately rests on the commitment of everyone to cooperate and work collectively with a “team spirit”.

Anyone engaged by the hirer to perform or work at Hawke’s Bay Business Hub are required to comply with Hawke’s Bay Business Hub's Health and Safety policies and procedures and other initiatives.

Hawke’s Bay Business Hub requires all hirers and any other person undertaking work on behalf of the hirer, to fulfil their duty of care responsibilities by:

  • Providing a safe place of work
  • Providing safe equipment
  • Encouraging safe practices in the workplace
  • Complying with the Health & Safety in Employment Act 1992 and it’s amendments
  • Conducting oneself safely and by not endangering anyone else with what you do
 

Emergency Procedures

1. All hirers and any other person undertaking work on behalf of the hirer and their employees are expected to familiarise themselves with the location of the exit pathways, assembly point and alarm call point positions.

2. If the fire alarm system has been activated then there is an emergency situation and all persons should evacuate immediately.

3. In the event of an emergency the hirers and any other person undertaking work on behalf of the hirer must follow all reasonable directions given by Event Facilities staff, fire wardens, security personnel or emergency services.

4. Assist mobility impaired persons where possible.

5. The building / areas may not be re-entered until the all clear is given by the head fire warden or emergency service personnel.

Smoke Free Policy

Hawke’s Bay Business Hub is a smoke free site and recognises that smoking is hazardous to health and that non-smokers should be protected from involuntary inhalation of tobacco smoke.

Alcohol Policy

The Hawke’s Bay Business Hub is not licensed. Please organise this through your caterer. If you are providing alcohol, please be a responsible host and provide soft drinks alternatives and food options.

Illegal Drugs

Hawke’s Bay Business Hub is an illegal drugs free site.  If any person is considered to be intoxicated or under the influence of any drug to the extent that Hawke’s Bay Business Hub considers that person poses a risk to themselves or others, then they will be asked to leave the venue after arranging for safe transportation and supervision.

Restricted Areas

All hirers and any other person undertaking work on behalf of the hirer are not permitted to enter any areas marked as restricted unless specifically authorised by Hawke’s Bay Business Hub to do so.

Electrical

Hawke’s Bay Business Hub may inspect any item brought into our venue for commercial use or as hire equipment.  Any portable electrical device, to be used at our venue must be protected by an RCD. All portable RCD’s shall comply and be tested in accordance with AS3190 – Approval and Test specification – Residual Current Devices (current operated earth leak devices). All electrical equipment used at our venues must be tested and tagged in accordance with AS/NZS3760:2003 before being used.
